Data Hot-House 2008:
"The Data Centre Tomorrow"

What is topmost on the minds of IT executives today when it comes to their data centres is no longer just the upkeep of their databases or the enhancement of their operations. It’s more: the transformation of their data centres into leaner and yet more powerful business information centres. This event is a report on the state of data centres in 2008 and a projection of how they ought to be in the next 12-36 months.

In the past couple of decades, the rapid globalisation and mass deployment of information and communication technologies have led to increasingly complex systems for processing information and providing the infrastructure and connections enabling business processes across the world. This event offers up 360 degree views at how enterprises have been working for the past few years, with mixed success, at making this huge mass of information and communication resources easier to manage, particularly on the data centre front.

The greater impact of their labours is also addressed. We look at how enterprises have been looking very closely at reducing the complexity of their data centres and making them better able to deliver not just greater efficiencies and lowered costs of operation, but also the robustness, scalability and flexibility required to support strategic business growth, as well as mitigate the risks of technology investments.

Today, the buzz is all about green IT. At this Forum, key data centre heads and IT practitioners, technologists and business leaders will weigh in on the subject of green IT, and take discussion of the impact of data centres and all IT resources beyond the typical issues of energy and carbon footprint reduction, and into broader areas sustainable IT, corporate social responsibility and long-term business success.
