Indoor Google Maps for Android

Shopping within shopping malls or retail stores in Singapore is going to get easier. You will no longer have to look for a freestanding map directory of the mall or ask an employee for help when you are lost for directions in a mall.

Google has now released the Indoor Google Maps for Android in Singapore.

This map will bring the mall directory to the palm of your hands, said Google in a statement today.

"Detailed floor plans will automatically appear when you're viewing the map and zoomed in on a building where indoor map data is available," said Google in its statement. "And, in certain locations, you will have the option of using the indoor My Location feature to help you navigate your way inside. The familiar 'blue dot' icon can indicate your approximate location, and when you move up or down a level in a building with multiple floors, the interface will automatically update to display which floor you're on. All this is achieved by using an approach similar to that of 'My Location' for outdoor spaces, but fine-tuned for indoors."

Google has partnered with some of the most popular shopping destinations in Singapore to help Singaporeans find their way in the malls here, including 313@somerset, ION Orchard, Marina Bay Sands, Ngee Ann City and Paragon, among others. In all, Indoor Google Maps to 22 popular shopping destinations in Singapore are available as of today.

Google said it will continually add new indoor maps to public buildings across Singapore.
