Interview with Charles Reed

MIS Asia Staff | Jan. 16, 2009
Charles Reed, CEO, DOCOMO interTouch (subsidiary of NTT DOCOMO), shares his views on senior IT executive employment and salary outlook for 2009

2. Ideally, you should make sure the company has the resources to allow you to do your job. Get a feel for the budgets, and targets and what resources (cash and people) that will be made available so that you can achieve your targets. That said, in a recession, it is more important that companies have good contingency plans and resources, flatter management hierarchy to ensure accessibility to the top guns, fast turn-around time on decision making processes. Such assets will give you a good indication on how flexible and reactive the company is in critical times.

3. If recruiting make sure you get the right fit. The candidate should be a team player, have a can-do attitude and hands-on experience and is in tune to real market conditions.

Is there anything else you'd particularly like to add about the IT industry employment and salary scenario in the Asia Pacific which you think should be included in our article?

At DOCOMO interTouch, we have a strong culture campaign to develop key characteristics: transparency and a high level of integrity, career growth and development, empowerment and appreciation of value in terms of people and the work we all perform. Having strong team players is important, especially in times like these.
