IT retail mania in Singapore

Ross O. Storey | Sept. 14, 2009
Thousands storm Suntec City for digital bargains.

I even spotted a Dick Tracey style wristwatch phone, but the crowds prevented me from getting near enough to properly check it out. Im showing my age by alluding to Dick Tracey, who was a US comic strip character from the 1950s.

Im told that the last day of the event, Sunday, is when everyone attends, hoping for an extra-special bargain. I was there on Saturday and can only imagine how busy it would have been on the Sunday.

Yes, I had a definite headache after spending some three hours prowling Comex 2009, on my feet all the time because seating was just not possible, but I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed myself and it was certainly gadget freak heaven.

Singapore is now officially out of recession and, if the number of apparent sales at Comex are a measure, consumers are definitely feeling the spending urge.
