HONG KONG, 2 JULY 2009 The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has announced that it will deploy new financial and human capital management applications to help meet forthcoming education challenges.
HKUST has selected Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.0 applications Oracle's PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions, Oracle's PeopleSoft Financial Management and Oracle's PeopleSoft Human Capital Management to help meet the education challenges resulting from the forthcoming academic reforms in Hong Kong.
Improve operational efficiency
Under the new reforms, the academic structure will change from a three-year undergraduate programme to a more flexible and modular four-year programme by 2012, and HKUST expects its student population to increase from 7,000 to 10,000 over this period.
To cope with this transformation, HKUST will use the new solutions to improve operational efficiency in student administration, finance and human resources management.
Focusing on the goal of becoming a leading force in global higher education, HKUST aims to move towards a more student-centric way of operating, supported by the enterprise solutions suite.
The suite is expected to provide HKUST with an accessible, easy and intuitive-to-use platform, which allows additional and innovative ways of interaction between students and academic staff and the university administration.
Easy student information access
Information such as enrolment details, academic records and financial transactions can then be efficiently accessed for analysis, management, planning and sharing.
It is expected the deployment of the new enterprise applications will help to increase productivity and reduce operating costs by connecting staff, faculties, alumni, vendors and students to each other and through business processes, automating common administrative tasks, leveraging comprehensive self-service functionality across applications and delivering multi-language capabilities.
