SINGAPORE, 23 JUNE 2011-Singapore-based systems integrator NCS Group has been displaying a learning and collaboration platform called OnePlace at the current CommunicAsia.
The system is positioned as a one-stop portal with features such as wiki learning pages, community forums, employee calendars, and meeting planners. Also, NCS claims it can weave existing human resource and finance functions like leave application tools into OnePlace through APIs. CommunicAsia is being held at the Marina Bay Sands integrated resort from 21 to 24 June.
Sporting a user interface inspired by today's social media platforms, administrators can post notifications like security updates and patches, while colleagues can leave comments on the main pages.
NCS wants to "bring a social media experience into the workspace, creating a social enterprise," said Ng See Sing, general manager, portal city, NCS.
OnePlace is a new application from NCS' new business unit called Catalyst which is headed by Ng. Catalyst is set up to integrate technologies and products that might not be commonly used in business environments, into advanced proof-of-concepts that can be developed further for adoption.
OnePlace is available as on-premise or cloud-based models. Pricing can be based on the previous per users' licence model or the latter's utility usage charge.
Also on show is a scheduling and alert tool called OneCal that NCS says can provide users control over what alerts to receive and how they want to receive them.
Accessible via any Internet-enabled mobile device (such as a handphone or tablet) or the computer, OneCal aggregates the user's own calendar of activities with alerts from Catalyst's network of partners, including government agencies.
