SAP and AliCloud to boost cloud adoption in China

AliCloud will help SAP deploy its solutions in mainland China.

Alibaba Cloud (AliCloud) and SAP will soon launch new online solutions aimed at boosting cloud adoption by enterprises in mainland China, following their strategic partnership in April.

Founded in 2009, Hangzhou-based AliCloud has more than 2.3 million local clients in industries including finance, transportation, medical, genomics and meteorological sectors, as of 31 March 2016.

Meanwhile, SAP has about 11,000 corporate customers across the mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, of which a growing number of them are cloud users.

SAP thus hopes that the partnership will help "increase penetration of its cloud solutions into small and medium-sized enterprises, which will be key to its success in China," said Edward Chen, Chief Business Officer at SAP Greater China, in a report by South China Morning Post on 26 July 2016.

As part of the partnership, AliCloud will also jointly market SAP HANA One - a cloud-based financial and operational planning software - and other Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions to organisations in mainland China.
