SC Group of Thailand is gearing up for expansion and needed solutions to support multiple sites and to venture into new businesses.

A Thai logistics company has recently chosen SAP solutions to transform its business to support its growth plans.

SAP said SC Group, which specialises in logistics services, has chosen SAP ERP and SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence (BI) solutions for multiple site implementation and right across the entire company’s value chain.

SC Group was established in 1985 and has over 40 offices throughout Thailand and Southeast Asia. The company said it is ripe for growth, as it has experienced a five-fold increase in its headcount in the last five years.

Nuttaphob Ratanasuwanthawee, Chairman and President, SC Group said: “SC Group has been growing rapidly in recent years, and to enable us to achieve our long-term goals, we need to be able to more efficiently source, store, move, and deliver our products – and ultimately serve our customers better.

Integration

To support their customers, SC Group noted that many of their clients were using SAP to run their business processes. The SC Group then implemented SAP to facilitate integration of its business with its client base.

The SAP applications that the SC Group implemented include those in the areas of financial accounting, controlling, fixed assets management, material management and project systems, and sale & distribution.

As a logistics company, SC Group realised the value of an ERP system as it helped reduce inventory costs and increased asset utilisation. The BI solution, on the other hand, helped the SC Group process and analyse data faster and come up with more informed decisions

“Optimising SC Group’s IT assets into one integrated platform can drive productivity and profitability which is key to their business transformation journey,” said Shyam Prasad, vice president, Applications, SAP South East Asia. “With improved operations, margins and a sharper competitive edge, the foundation is set for the company to grow.”
