Micron21, an Australian data centre hosting provider, has deployed Brocade networking solutions to expand service quality and offerings.
Brocade MLXe routers are providing the basis for Micron's network and data centre expansion.
Micron21 is a provider of geographically redundant, fault-tolerant IP networking services that are ideal for the most mission-critical hosting environments.
This expansion is expected to pave the way for a new generation of high-availability services.
For this project, Brocade has deployed a pair of its MLXe-4 core routers at each Micron21 data centre. The routing mesh is the foundation for Micron21's new state-of-the-art, high-availability, geographically redundant IP services.
These services, notes Brocade, are designed to address the requirements of today's mission-critical hosting requirements for small to large companies, enterprises and government organisations.
Before choosing the Brocade solution, Micron21 was searching for a vendor that could help it achieve its goal of deployment of 160 additional data centre racks over 18 months.
Micron21 also wanted a smoother migration path towards supporting higher levels of virtualisation and integration with its existing usage-based billing system.
Brocade MLXe Series core routers were finally chosen because the platforms exceeded the company's performance requirements and while seamlessly integrating with its existing IP networking infrastructure.
"Compared to the other solutions we evaluated, the Brocade MLXe stood out for its uncompromising design in terms of performance, availability, scalability and security, offering a very competitive total cost of ownership," said James Braunegg, infrastructure manager of Micron21. "With our new core routing infrastructure in place, we are capable of delivering 100 Gigabit Ethernet performance, which is beyond today's customer requirements."
"As an independent company in a very competitive field, Micron21 has built a very strong reputation for service excellence," said Graham Schultz, regional director of Brocade Australia. "I'm very pleased that Brocade is now a proven part of that success story and I believe we have much more to contribute as Micron21 evolves its infrastructure to support its customers' needs."
