The Singapore police has arrested an 18-year-old woman who is alleged to be involved in a series of online purchase scams.
According to the police, victims were convinced into making advanced payments for tickets below market rate, but the tickets were not delivered as promised and the woman would be uncontactable.
The woman was arrested along Joo Chiat Road on Monday (13 April 2015) after the extensive investigations following reports lodged. The woman was also found to be using bank accounts belonging to other individuals to receive the proceeds of her crime.
The woman will be charged in court today (15 April 2015) for the offence of cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code. If convicted, she may be jailed up to 10 years.
