"Health minister Dr Daniel Poulter really just echoed Jeremy Hunt's sentiments about the paperless NHS by 2018 and how the better use of technology will free up £4bn a year. Interestingly, since Jeremy Hunt first made his vision clear back in January, we've had many inquiries from our NHS clients," said Pettit.
"There is a huge focus for online patient records and how they can be accessed moving forward. We are helping our clients pick the right devices, such as tablets, to retrieve data and helping them to support the devices as well."
He added: "Sir Malcolm Grant, chair of NHS England pointed out that historically there was a four per cent increase in demand for IT, coupled with a four per cent increase in spend each year. This is no longer the case so trusts should look to the use of disruptive technologies to provide better performance instead. I think this is a good point and one perfect example is virtualisation where trusts can use this technology to utilise their current IT environment."
