Dell retail solutions come to Asia

Revamped suite is aimed at small to mid-sized retailers.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, 18 APRIL 2011 – Dell is finally making available in the Asia Pacific region an extended suite of retail solutions similar to an announcement the company made early this year.

Dell announced early this year in the United States that it is rolling out its expanded retail solutions in the US first and eventually worldwide. The solutions are intended for small and mid-sized retailers wanting to run their operations efficiently while keeping costs low.

The Asia Pacific region can finally avail of Dell’s latest retail solutions but initially available in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand only. Dell said the solutions will be available to the rest of the region “soon”.

Dell’s comprehensive suite of retail solutions is based on its OptiFlex systems and Microsoft Dynamics. The systems and software being made available in the Asia Pacific, however, are different from the US’ offerings. What is similar is that the suite includes end-to-end solutions, from the storefront to the backend, with hardware, software, peripherals, warranty and technical support.

From storefront to back office

For the Southeast Asia initial announcement, Dell is offering for the storefront three fully integrated POS solutions – value retail solution with OptiPlex 380 and Microsoft Retail Management System (RMS), premium retail solution with OptiPlex 780 and Microsoft RMS, and feature-rich compact retail solution with OptiPlex 980 and Microsoft RMS. For the back office, Dell is offering solutions for storage and virtualisation, systems management, security, and disaster recovery.

“Our customers are telling us the challenges of running an efficient retail store are changing and their current technology partners are unable to fulfill their needs,” said Harjeet Singh Rekhi, regional director of solutions sales, Asia Pacific and Japan.

Rekhi added that Dell’s suite of retail solutions help their customers focus on serving their customers and this will enable Dell customers to stay competitive.
