A partnership between e-payment service provider MOL Access Portal and online game developer and publisher Wargaming aim to reach new markets, which include the use of the MOLPoints payment system.

Speaking on 7 September 2012, MOL Access Group chief executive officer Ganesh Kumar Bangah said the partnership with the Minsk-based company from Belarus, Wargaming,  whose flagship title is the popular MMO (massively multiplayer online) action World of Tanks, will allow players to pay and play their favourite Wargaming titles using their local currency payment options. MOL Access Portal is owned by Malaysia-based Internet firm MOL Global Group.

MOLPoints is a virtual currency used by more than two million online consumers to acquire online credits and digital goods worldwide, said Bangah, during the document exchange ceremony held at the same time as the launch of the National ICT month 2012, WCG Asian Championship 2012 and Digital Lifestyle Expo 2012 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.***

"War games are genuinely unique in their approach and especially to the MMO genre," he said. "We believe by implementing the MOLPoints online payment system, Wargaming titles will garner greater awareness among the gaming community and achieve further growth by expanding into new markets. As for MOL, this is yet another milestone in our continuous effort to provide the best online gaming experience while fostering strong partnerships with reputable game publishers and developers, such as Wargaming, globally."

Collaborations with big names

MOL has collaborations with more than 150 game publishers worldwide, including big names like Electronic Arts and Zynga and offering the best online payment solutions possible to engage gamers and provide them with localised payment options. With over 680,000 payment channels in more than 80 countries, MOL is rapidly growing and continues to expand into new and emerging markets such as Brazil and Turkey.

Wargaming's chief executive officer, Victor Kislyi, said: "MOL is a leader in the digital payment system in this region, so partnering with them was an obvious choice. Their knowledge and experience in this region makes them an invaluable partner and we look forward to working with them in the future and at the same time working together to help spread Wargaming and our titles' reach to brand new players."
