New ICT push to achieve Vision 2020 for Malaysia

Early industry reactions welcome initiatives announced under the ‘Digital Malaysia’ plan by MOSTI and MDeC.

VMware Malaysia country manager Laurence Si agreed that Digital Malaysia's focus on increasing investment in technologies and strategies that focused on delivering business agility and enhanced workforce productivity would promote more rapid growth for local companies. "We are pleased that shared cloud enterprise services is one of the projects identified under Digital Malaysia with the significance of cloud computing technologies to enterprises in the country. In fact, according to VMware’s latest Annual Cloud Maturity Index, a commissioned research study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of VMware, 64 percent of Malaysian firms are either currently using or actively planning cloud initiatives and increasingly view cloud computing as a strategic initiative."

"VMware's contribution will be in the form of customer-proven virtualisation and cloud infrastructure solutions that reduce IT complexity for companies, and which help them transition to a more efficient and flexible service delivery models," said Si.
