A new collaboration agreement with Malaysian IT solutions firm Felda Prodata Systems (PRODATA) will help to bring enhanced IT services to Malaysia, said Indian IT solutions provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

During the signing ceremony on 13 September, which was witnessed by the Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Sri' Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, TCS president, Asia Pacific, Vish Iyer, said: "The full potential of this relationship is to combine the global experiences of Tata Consultancy Services with the in-country knowledge and capabilities of PRODATA for the benefit of Malaysian customers. We believe the two organisations have complementary capabilities and we are very excited at the power of combining these to create a full service portfolio leveraging a larger pool of local talents."

Iyer said the move would affect the IT industry both in the Malaysian and regional markets. "Under this agreement, both organisations will jointly take forward their key IT initiatives in a timely, efficient and effective manner to service customers. They will also jointly develop and market IT solutions and services to local companies, Malaysian government-linked companies (GLCs) and global companies within Malaysia."

"This collaboration marks an exciting chapter for PRODATA," said PRODATA chief executive officer, Fauzi Ghani. "It injects TCS' global experience and strength into our service portfolios and capabilities in offering differentiated IT solutions and services to our customers. This 'glocal' relationship creates strong synergies in both business and talent development. It will help to accelerate PRODATA's vision to become the national IT company in Malaysia".

Ghani said TCS and PRODATA would share technology expertise in areas including but not limited to open source solutions, SAP-ERP application, application development and maintenance, shared services / business process outsourcing (BPO), infrastructure services and business intelligence & performance management (BIPM).

Established in 1986, PRODATA is the IT arm of FELDA Group of companies, Malaysia's diversified agro-based enterprise.
