TETRA, delivering value for business critical use
The distinctive mission-critical strength of TETRA is now well recognised and being put to business critical use by enterprises. The attributes of secure communication, reliability, robustness and sophistication have taken it beyond a wide range of markets, including airports, seaports, railroad operations, metros, high speed railway systems, roads, water transport, energy and utilities. Large scale international events, sporting events, global trade exhibitions, large commercial organisations such as refineries, oil platforms, strategic installations, and even hospitality industry is leveraging TETRA's strength.
The cost-to-benefit ratio for users is significant. The ruggedness of the devices and the long device lifecycle deliver investment assurance. Once the network is set up, unlimited calls between users and groups of users can be made, which translates to significant savings in cost of operations and utilisation. The benefits in terms of immediacy of communication and reliability make a critical difference in business critical operations. A unique example is Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore's first integrated resort. They have harnessed TETRA's extensive mission-critical voice and data capabilities in a creative and unique way to enhance their business performance, and set new standards of service excellence in the tourism industry. This has won them the TETRA Association award for 'best use of TETRA in private industry'.
A Clear Future for Digital:
The focus of the industry now is to move towards the next inflection point of higher bandwidth data providing Internet and multimedia capabilities. Multimedia delivery capabilities for proactive and predictive intelligence based policing and crime fighting can be met by TETRA leveraging TETRA evolution to TEDS (TETRA Enhanced Data Service) and Public Safety Broadband based on LTE. The combination of TETRA, TEDS and the public safety LTE working together, will meet the needs of next generation digital public safety communication with the power to draw from the resources of all available systems and networks. It will integrate the advantages of real-time information offered by 4G with existing ultra secure and reliable voice communications networks.
