M1 Limited (M1) has roped in network vendor Huawei to further expand and upgrade its existing 3G network, the Singapore telco announced today.
The two parties have signed a contract at the value of up to S$11 million, according to the telco.
This expansion of M1's existing 3G network is islandwide and will include the rollout of additional base stations.
This will also entail a nationwide optimisation programme of the 3G network to improve call connectivity and customer experience.
M1 said its network expansion work is scheduled to be completed by the third quarter of 2013.
"While we were the first to offer nationwide 4G service, we are also constantly upgrading our 3G network to ensure our customers achieve better coverage and network performance anytime, anywhere," said Patrick Scodeller, chief operating officer, M1.
