Customers of food and lifestyle night market, Mercato Centrale, can now pay their purchases using the mobile money service GCash.
To use the new service, customers need to open the Scan QR option in the GCash App, scan the QR code displayed at food stalls in Mercato, and proceed to payment.
The QR codes are linked to merchant's GCash wallet, which allow them to receive the payment in no time and without the need for sophisticated machines to complete the mobile payment transactions.
"GCash is a great opportunity for our small-scale food business entrepreneurs to serve more clients, expand their customer base and scale up their business," said Mercato Centrale co-founder RJ Ledesma, in a report by Philippine Daily Inquirer.
The new mobile payment service at Mercato Centrale came after its partnership with Globe myBusiness to launch the Restaurant Business Network, a project which aims to provide restaurant and café owners with workshops, events, and online materials on food development and trends.
