Why did Singtel acquire TrustWave?

Zafar Anjum | April 13, 2015
Does Singtel want to be a security vendor? This is how analysts decode the telco’s move

"So as a strategic move it makes a lot of sense, now whether or not SingTel can effectively market this globally remains to be seen," he adds.

"TrustWave is a specialist in managed security. This will enhance Singtel's credibility as a security service player, rather than a generalist offering security," avers Ajay Sunder, Vice-President, ICT - Telecoms, Frost & Sullivan, Asia Pacific. "TrustWave also holds several proprietary security technologies and patents which can help Singtel position itself away from the role of being just a technology aggregator to one of technology innovator."

"Enterprise security has become an important element for CIOs in the overall enterprise architecture," he adds. "Singtel can now integrate Security in its overall Portfolio and provide a more complete offering to enterprise offering."
