Pure joy

From features to performance, the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro is a bundle of joy

The 13-inch MacBook Pro is slim, light, cute and impressive. Beautifully designed, it delivers on Apples aesthetic commitment (aluminum unibody enclosure).

It is latch-less, has multi-touch track pad and a full-size illuminated keyboard. That helps when you are in a dark setting (your family members in the room are sleeping or you are in an aeroplane or in a dimly-lit conference room). Moreover, it has backlit auto adjust to save battery life. With multi-touch trackpad, you can be creative with your fingers.

One of the impressive things about this new Mac is the battery life. Apple claims they last up to seven hours (on a single charge). Means what? You can watch three movies and still not exhaust your laptops batteries. I found it nearly there but I was suspicious after watching two movies on it, back to back.

Another impressive feature is that it comes equipped with high performance NVIDIA graphics (NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics). So, the colours were great. But sometimes the LED-backlit display and the illuminated keyboard distracted me as they crossed each others path.

This dude thinks fast. Press the start button and its on in secondsready for your use. It has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor that makes it run applications faster and more efficiently.

Those who missed the SD Card slot in their MacPro, heres the good news. It has a new SD card slot, so you can edit and share your photos and digital video on the spot.

The MacBook Pro comes with iLife09the latest versions of iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, iWeb, and iDVD, and of course wireless and bluetooth capabilities. So Web surfing was fast and fun for me.

This MacBook Pro is a great buy at S$1,988 (US$ 1377; 2GB memory, 160 GB hard drive and SD card slot) and S$2,488 (US$1723; 4GB memory, 250 GB hard drive and SD card slot).
