Through Bridge Alliance, subscribers can use the service for only US$10 a day.

Subscribers of India's Bharti Airtel can now take advantage of an affordable rate while roaming in the Asia Pacific region, thanks to a regional alliance of telcos.

For about US$10 a day or Rs500, Bharti Airtel subscribers can roam for one day under the telco's 1-day Bridge DataRoamUnlimited roaming plan. The service is being made available through the Bridge Alliance, a network of member telecommunications providers in the Asia Pacific region.

The Bridge Alliance is offering Bridge DataRoamUnlimited a daily flat-rate data roaming plan in the region. The service is available through the alliance's members, which include 11 operators in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. Airtel is a member of the alliance.

The Bharti Airtel service is available to postpaid mobile customers. Subscribers can activate the Bridge DataRoamUnlimited via SMS or by contacting Airtel customer service before their next overseas trip.

"Airtel's launch of Bridge DataRoamUnlimited takes the alliance to the next level of expanded coverage and presence in the region," said Ken Wee, acting chief executive officer and vice president, infrastructure & operations, Bridge Alliance. "Bridge Alliance will continue to be dedicated in our mission to offer our alliance members' customers the best value-added services and products by leveraging the combined strength and innovation of our network partnership."
