World's smallest, greenest gigabit switch launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, 07 AUGUST 2008 - Network solutions provider 3Com claims that its newly-launched 5-port gigabit switch is the world's smallest and greenest in the world.

According to the company, the 3Com OfficeConnect Gigabit Switch 5 is a plug-and-play Gigabit Ethernet switch that provides support for bandwidth intensive applications, and allows high-speed connections to servers.

The company claims that power savings up to 31 per cent are made possible by using the latest 65nm technology.

The OfficeConnect Gigabit Switch 5 is part of the 3Com OfficeConnect family, which includes Cable/DSL gateways, wireless devices, Fast Ethernet switches, hubs, local area network (LAN) modems and Network Interface Cards. The OfficeConnect family is an integrated system, allowing branch and small offices to share computer resources, access the Internet, and take advantage of new technologies, such as high-speed broadband Internet wireless LAN connectivity.

3Com OfficeConnect Gigabit Switch 5 retails at RM268 (US$82) and is available from Ingram Micro Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Tech Data Systems Sdn Bhd, and Originex Network Sdn Bhd.
