Trustworthy retailers who sell and promote genuine Microsoft software will also be awarded the Genuine Software Advocate (GSA) certification and a will receive a GSA decal to display in their store fronts.

Along with the STARetailer identification, the GSA certification will guide customers to retailers that offer superior service and 100 per cent legal software, said Chan.

Consumers are also being encouraged to report illegal software practices. The BSA hotline is 1800-333-3999.
