“All organisations have a purpose and security is to protect the organisation against things that threaten its ability to perform,” he said. “All security decisions and practices must result in a cost benefit and risk reduction to the organisation.”
Most importantly, Hodge points to a better and more holistic understanding of technologies and threats rather than new tools. “For the most part we don’t need new technologies or tools to fight cyber threats and crimes,” he said. “What we need is to develop an IT Industry with the understanding of how best to use these tools.”
